Maya Tanaka Barnard

 

Maya grew up in Yokohama, Japan.Through her mother who was a yoga teacher, she was exposed to the therapeutic and holistic approach of yoga to health and well-being in her youth. Later, yoga became an essential element in her life, bringing her an inner balance and perfect remedy for anxiety and chronic fatigue that she used to struggle with.
 
After her university studies, Maya lived in Zurich (Switzerland) then in Berkeley (California, USA) for several years, where she completed her yoga teacher trainings. Practicing yoga has always been a mysteriously joyful experience for her. It gives her mental stability and a tool to navigate through challenges of life. She is delighted to share her experience with those who are interested in this art of living.
Besides her dedicated daily practice, she continues to study with internationally recognised yoga and meditation teachers to deepen her knowledge. She is deeply grateful to all of her teachers for their wisdom and support, including Judith Hanson Lasater, Sianna Sherman and Paul Muller-Ortega.

Maya can teach in English, French and Japanese.
Besides yoga, she holds a Ph.D. in History of Art from Paris-Sorbonne University. After Paris, Zurich and Berkeley, she has settled in France in the beautiful city of Dijon in 2012.
