Maya Tanaka Barnard
Born in Japan, Maya met yoga in her childhood through her mother who was a yoga teacher. When she started to practice regularly, she became fascinated by the positive effects of yoga on her physical as well as mental health. She discovered her well-being through yoga and desires to share her knowledge with everyone interested in this art of living.
After her Ph.D. studies in Paris, she had the joy of living in Zürich and especially in Berkeley (USA) where she studied with recognized yoga teachers including Sianna Sherman, Katchie Ananda, Noah Mazé, Desirée Rumbaugh, Marc Holzman and Michèle Zoss. She continues to develop her practice with them and other teachers in Europe.
She completed her teacher training with Sianna Sherman and Noah Mazé in Berkeley and San Francisco and became a Hatha yoga teacher affiliated to the Yoga Alliance, USA. She teaches a dynamic style of yoga called "vinyasa yoga". Her classes are energizing, challenging and creative, emphasizing on strengthening body and mind to reach serenity of spirit. She also teaches prenatal and postnatal yoga for which she did her teacher training with Sue Elkind.
Besides yoga, she holds a Ph.D. in History of Art from Paris-Sorbonne University. After Paris, Zürich and Berkeley, she has settled in France in the beautiful city of Dijon in 2012.
